Contents of the Vehicle

FB QUESTION: from Jason Parmelee
“Curious to know if it is of public record about the contents of the vehicle other than car seats and toys. Fast food wrappers and was there enough for two adults and two children or ONE adult? Receipts? They were away from home for 3 days before the vehicle was spotted and towed. They had to eat, they had to sleep, they had to use the bathroom somewhere, yet no one remembered seeing them.”

There was enough room for two adults and two car seats, but it would be incredibly tight for another adult to sit in the rear seat between the two oversized car seats. Also, between the two rear child seats, on the hump between the floor board, was Joey Sr. tupperware with asthma medication. The detectives told me this was important because it shows that there wasn’t an additional person in the car or the tupperware bowl would have been knocked over. In the rear of the car were the kitchen set of toys, etc.. Best to view either Disappeared or Vanished to see the still photos of items. I think it was on the Disappeared epidsode. The car was found in the locked postion. There were no credit card transactions after the Feb 4th, 2010. This four day gap between Feb 4 til Feb 8th 2010 has always bothered the detective and our family. There have been no confirmed sightings since Feb 4th 2010. The only possible video of the trooper was at 7:47pm of the bottom quarter panel of the vehicle. I personally saw this video and noone can be seen in the car because of the angles of the cameras. The video is time-signatured.

But no food wrappers? Drink containers? Leaving his meds is enough alarming evidence that they didn’t head into Mexico (if that’s even the case) willfuly and/or the person(s) leaving the vehicle at the border was neither Joey or Summer.

I’d like to watch either Disappeared or Vanished but it appears neither of them are available.

I understand that you don’t necessarily look at the comments and reply to everyone.. but yes I agree that its very abnormal that the toys were purchased at a different Ross than the one the vehicle was parked at… it is and EXTREMELY abnormal case… but I have great respect for yu and what are doing… don’t ever give up

What about the contents of the other vehicle the family owned…the green truck left parked ‘unlocked’ in the driveway of the home? I know it has been stated in several news stories that Joey’s video camera was on the front seat…what happened to that camera? Were there any videos still remaining on it? What else was in that truck…child safety seats? Any medications (like Joey Sr.’s asthma meds)? Paperwork? Tools? Shoes or clothing Joey may have used for work?

  5. TLS

And yes, I too would love to be able to rewatch ‘Disappeared’ and ‘Vanished’…I think a lot of people would. Any chance the family can get a special release of these shows to post here on the website?

  6. Jennifer

You can get both episodes on Amazon for $1.99 each.

  7. Jordan

If you guys got a whole whopping 99 cents to spend, just BUY the “Disappeared” and “Vanished” episodes off of Itunes.

That is where they can be found =)

I believe the “Disappeared” show is available through iTunes (television shows category); but I uploaded mine in January, so maybe no longer available.

The show Disappeared can be seen on “Discovery ID” I think you can watch the show and get updates on the Discover ID website. Just google it for the address. I have been following the story ever since I watched the show. I think the McStay family deserves more support and resources from law enforcement in CA & in Mexico. It seems like the detectives are taking the easy way out by implying the McStay’s wanted to dissapear. Even if that is true law enforcement has an obligation to keep looking in order to confirm the welfare of the children. I admire Mike McStay for his effort to find his brother. I hope he keeps the faith

I’m sure a very thorough investigation of the trooper was conducted since it was basically the last thing in connection with them.
My heart breaks for your family, Mike. I continue to pray for a resolution in this case daily. I cannot imagine the pain you and your family feel on a daily basis just wondering what happened with them. The not knowing has to be the hardest thing. Bless your hearts for going through such a long enduring, painful event. May answers come to you very soon! Always in my heart and my prayers!

Disappeared featuring the McStay family will be shown again tomorrow night (July 18, 2011). It is called “Mystery at the Border.”

I saw the show again tonight. It’s so baffling….One thing that really sticks out to me are the items from Ross…I was wondering if they checked any of the Ross stores closer to their home to see if the items were purchased there. Or even inquired about whether or not someone tried to return the toys to the Ross store located in the lot…If they could nail down just where those toys came from and how they came to be in the car, perhaps they could get the clues they need to break this case…I don’t believe this family left willingly…They had a close knit, loving family (as you can see from the show) and had so much going on in their lives to just walk away from it…

  13. Tom

Was there any finger prints on these toys are they toys the boys would like like the kitchen and some of the games are they stuff boys would like also were are the other ross stores if the toys are not from ross in the shopping center the truck was found any cashiers questioned in the other ross stores

  14. TLS

I believe the Trooper was throughly searched, finger printed, etc…my question is about the other vehicle Joey owned…the green truck left parked in the McStay’s driveway…was it ever checked out? Finger-printed? Contents examined? Were there also children’s safety seats in it? Also I had read in a very early report that it was unlocked and Joey’s video recorder was on the front seat (doesn’t sound like something Joey would do)… what happened to that? Was it checked out? Did Summer drive the green truck to Ross on the 4th? Just wondering, since it has been said that Joey drove the Trooper to his business meeting that day and Summer went shopping for gifts for her sister’s new baby.
Was it ever determined what time Joey actually made it home that afternoon from his meeting? I’ve heard Summer called him from the home phone late that afternoon (I believe it was around 5 something) so apparently he was not home then…so, did he ever come home?
Suppose they have this all wrong and Summer actually drove the Trooper that day and Joey drove the truck (not sure why Chase would lie about it, but stranger things have happened in this story)…in that case it could be possible that Joey never returned home. He may have called or text Summer to bring the boys and meet him somewhere…some sort of emergency situation…so it was only Summer and the boys leaving in the trooper that night. Someone else may have driven Joey’s truck home after they were gone…OR someone could have driven his truck home and abducted Summer and the boys in the Trooper…wouldn’t be hard to abduct a mother with two little boys if you held a gun on one of them. Anyway, just some things to think about…would really like to know about the green truck…thanks.

Omqq.iKant believe that this family is still missinq. Thisz is so sad. I watched thee ‘Disappeared’ show on ID & its so devastatinq to kno that they still kant b found.
But iThink that they didnt qo into Mexico volunterly cause its very danqerous at niqht..They should offer a biq reward & post it in Mexico & then maybe somebody will be desperate for money & they’ll call the tip line & juss say what they kno. iMean the cops in Mexico should at least coperate kus wut if the druq cartels are involved in this.
This is really sad tho. My prayers qo out to you & your family &&& hopefully you quys find them soon:(

To leave your inhaler behind, that would mean a fast exit of vehicle to not remember it.i have asthma and it is always on my person. How is the search going in mexico? Has interpol been notified?

  17. Will Oakes

Has it been considered that Joe Sr. may not have been in the car but another person forced Summer and the 2 boys into the Isuzu and had Summer drive them away? Is it possible that Joe Sr. had been killed or kidnapped earlier that day? Consider the video of the family’s border crossing. There seems to be some doubt that it’s Joe Sr. in the video. If a kidnapper was holding on to one child wouldn’t Summer follow willingly with the other child?

Were there workers at the house doing the remodeling? Landscapers? Anyone who may have had access to the house and to the computer?

I have to wonder if someone was after the boys, killed the father, used the mother to get the boys calmly into Mexico, and then sold the boys. This family would not have left their dogs to starve. If they had to leave in such a hurry there would be some indication as to the reason.

  18. JLM

Been watching this case off and on. Just one question I have not seen is, who owned the house prior to the McStay family? Could it of been a mistake in identity? Wrong family in the right house. Read that they were in their new home for just a short time.
    Prayers in finding answers.

Interestingly enough, I do not see anyone mentioning the fact that many people who go into MX to buy medication – INCLUDING HOMEOPATHICS – leave their car in parking lots at the border and WALK across to buy them. The reasons are simple: the pharmacies are right on the other side, it only takes 1/2h-1h max (especially for homeopathics), and people on foot are very very rarely searched. Remember that Summer’s last phone call from her cell was to a Homeopathic Products company, asking for something for “anger” as she called it. One of the best natural remedies for that is Kava (and not “Kava Kava”, as nicknamed in the US). I had some at a Kava ceremony at a resort island in Fiji in 1999 and it is so strong in liquid form that the entire mouth and lips area goes numb! Fiji, Tonga, etc… – after peak sales in exports in the 90s – now have problems selling it to the US, Australia and some other countries as some people abuse it. It is difficult to even get the calming effect from the pill form sold in the US previously, yet it is now extremely hard, if not impossible, to find here. MX, on the other hand… So, my 2 cents? Find pharmacies and/or stores that sell natural remedies hard ti find in the US but happen to be right on the other side of the border, and ask questions. Someone, during these 4 days, told them where to find what she was seeking – desperately as she seemed to have nervous issues and wanted to avoid medical drugs. Just a thought… This story has affected me more than any other ever and even though the police have probably thought of everything, I can’t help raking my brains and post it, just in case…

I have just returned from Mexico where I spent the weekend at a church above Ensenada. I had the McStay family on my mind the entire time. I have taken their poster and gave it out to people. Nevertheless, I have to say that if one wanted to disappear, or was forced to disappear, it would be extremely easy to do in Mexico. There is no problem for a family like the McStays to blend in with the community around Ensenada. I would imagine that this could be the case anywhere south of the border. It is just hustle and bustle in the cities there. There are so many outlying areas where people keep to themselves. I don’t believe that the McStays are in witness protection, but if they are being kept somewhere as a threat to another’s safety, Mexico is a likely place in which to do so.
I feel that Summer was with the boys and was meeting Joseph. I think that Joseph’s truck was returned to the house, or perhaps Joseph came home quickly and picked the family up; due to the camera on the front seat.
Not enough is said about the men that sold the Spanish speaking CD’s to the McStay’s while at the soccer game.
Gosh, my heart breaks over this. If I had the time and the money, I would go to the ends of the earth to try and find out what happened.
My prayers are always for you.

  21. Elizabeth

I just read a back issue of People today and learned about your family, Michael. I feel awful that I’d never heard about them before this- but I don’t watch either of the Disappearance shows they were on and, being from the Northeast, I don’t think I ever heard about them on our local news- and I watch every morning.

I wish, like most people who’ve posted, that I could help you in some way. I don’t want to be someone who doubts what the police have done or their efforts but I’m sure, as the immediate family having to deal with this, no effort is EVER enough. I hope that just knowing we all support you mentally, if not financially for some, helps you get through each day with hope.

Stay strong and never give up hope- we’re all here supporting you 100%.

  22. davidthx138

Did anyone ever explain why the McStays were buying girl toys? The red refridgerator and sink are pricey Pottery Barn Kids items, currently $249 each. Not likely to be found at any of the outlet stores where the Izuzu was parked. If they did purchase the fridge and sink at a another Ross Store, at discount, perhaps they went to the San Ysidro Store looking for the matching stove. If they did purchase these at Pottery Barn Kids (in La Jolla or Mission Viejo) they would probably be remembered, just a thought.

  23. Angie

To the immediate family: I cannot imagine the nightmare you have been living for the past couple years. I am so so sorry for the pain and sadness and worry you’ve had to endure. Worrying can be maddening and I just hope that you are able to find some peace.

After watching your story last night on E! investigates, I have to just say that I truly believe that your family may be in the witness protection program. This may also account for the police not doing as much as people would expect or why it may not be getting as much coverage. It is simply too bizarre for a whole family to go missing with no signs of foul play. It doesn’t make any sense for them to really just take off and leave. I too consider my pets my children and I couldn’t possibly even think about leaving them unless I was forced to. Unless I was told exactly what I had to do to ensure that my family and I could never be found again. And if I was doing so to protect my children, then you can bet I would have listened to everything I was told to do.

It is possible that law enforcement must actively pursue this case simply as a show because they are in the WPP. Every tip leads to a dead end, every question is unanswered, every path has been explored, and still nothing? It makes no sense. It’s such a crazy case, I think it’s really grabbed a lot of people’s attention. I personally think that if any 2 toddlers went missing, there would be a nation wide outcry of support not just from the public but law enforcement too. And we just haven’t seen that at all…it’s too strange and I really suggest you try and find out more about the WPP.

Today is dec 17 2011.. I live in az and just now heard of this family on e! With Lisa ling… I don’t live under a rock and am very surprised to not have heard this story previously.. It seems as though by the reporting on e! That the police and detectives didn’t seem to jump on the case… Did they even ever do a search for bodies in the area of that bridge were the last ping off the cell phones happened? I think it is very strange Michael that you nor your mother knew summers real age nor did you guys know that summer and her birthday were not real but an alias… What if summer was in a witness protection and never told Joseph sr.. And that’s why she had changed her name? What if whoever or whatever she was hiding from found her.. Remember someone knocked on the door a few nights prior who was that? Maybe She finally had to tell Joseph and he was willing to drop everything for her and the boys and they left maybe they left the dogs on purpose to throw people off….. I know this might sound wierd but why were eggs left out? I know some people eat eggs for dinner but majority eats eggs in the Am.. According to all reports though they left the house at night.. If someone took them why not get their bank info and wipe them clean??

I just don’t see how 4 people can vanish call Nancy Grace she always seems to bring light and media attention to cases like these… I think you guys need more publicity than this case is getting my prayers r with you all…..

Here’s another sinereo why the lies about summer and her names and birthdate and age? What if she was a fake why was Joseph sr getting so sick was she poisoning him?

I apologize, I didn’t read every comment, so if this is just rhetorical please disregard, and even more, please forgive what I am going to say. I honestly think that the family of the McStays and everyone needs to stop looking and stop getting the faces of their family posted. I truly from the bottom of my gut feel, felt right from the very first second I heard about this case… I feel that they left voluntarily and more than that, are running. Are hiding and doing their best not to be recognized and this may just be something I want to believe so that the other option isn’t true. But it is very much what I feel. I went over and over the story and every single time, my first instinct when listening to the video tape of their new home, and Joe was speaking about it? Combined with his look and the way he speaks, the way he looks in pictures? I felt that this is a person that was a great guy. A guy who was fun, fun to be around, always made sure everyone was having a good time, probably threw bbq’s, just all around great guy, but there was something else, just a vibe, that he was in to something more than just fountains. I knew people growing like him, one or two guys and everyone just loved them, but the one guy I knew pretty well, I never would have known but was a coke dealer and he reminded me a lot of Joe. I don’t know, obviously. And again, I apologize, it’s an ugly thing to say about someone, and I mean it in no way as a put down. But from the first words of “Vanished” when they began the story, not exact words but the v.o. says, “even in this economy his business, fountains was doing well” or great or whatever. And from that first second, I thought, oh God, he’d gotten involved in something, something maybe that seemed perfectly harmless, and he was in over his head. I think that maybe he’d been paid to use his fountains as a way to move shipments or whatever, maybe they used the look of “cement” to pass for it but really be something else, is possible. It’s possible, and as ugly as it may sound, anything that is possible, must be looked at. It is the last thing I would want to think of or hear of, my own family had this taken place with them, but I still feel I would be able to take it in to consideration. Also, I lived in Fallbrook. And I knew two drug dealers that had lived there. It was close to the boarder and easier for them to pick up the merchandise, plus it’s densely populated with trees and land, roads up into hills where only one or two homes sit. It’s the perfect area. And to me, this all makes a lot of sense, and he looks like the guy that kind of partied, still did now and again, was a blast to be with, probably dabbled in pot, I don’t know and I cast no judgement. Maybe I’ve smoked too much pot myself, but I got this instant feeling, and every time I’ve ever had one like it, every single time, what I thought instinctively? Always has turned out to be correct. In this case, that feeling told me, that they had run and that they cannot contact anyone right now, if ever. I think maybe they thought it would be safe after it all died down, but it hasn’t died down, his parents and family clearly miss him and want their family home where they belong, safe and sound as would any of us, but every time their pictures air, they are put in danger again, and it would have to force them to move again. I honestly think, that if there is any way possible, that they will get in touch with their family and send them some sort of sign that they are alive. God, I pray for it. I just so don’t want to believe something bad has happened to them, and I hope to God I am wrong, just because of how it looks, but compared to the other options, I pray I’m right. I’m sure I’ll be reading after I hit “post” or whatever, all of the opinions about how wrong and what a jerk I am and how I should do more research before writing blah blah blah, and I get it, I know. But I still feel the need to say it. I think they ran, and that if the media and search would all die down, they would indeed contact their brother or mother, etc. No other explanation makes sense to me.

  27. Jacob

As this may seem like they disappeared on purpose or an abduction… I do NOT think it is any one of these. See the family’s house was left in a condition that seemed like it may have been all of a sudden. Something or someone had to of do something to make them leave there house without a trace… And the video of the family crossing the boarder. I think it is a slight possibility that they did go to Mexico. What I wanna no if is there any type of withdraw from their bank account with a large amount. They could have done a withdraw days or even weeks before the disappearance to provide some kind of cover. It seems like every update of there location will give away there hiding spot and maybe that’s why they run. To stay away from a thing. Very discreet…..
With all due respect I hope that they are found soon well and alive and the running will stop.

Two years ago, you couldn’t drive over the border into Mexico w/o passports. Many people didn’t know this in 2010 (myself included, I used to go down to TJ all the time) because – previously, you didn’t need them. I, myself, was googling this issue on the internet around the same time this search showed up on the McStay’s computer. I believe they got down to the border in their car and discovered this information first hand. Therefore, since they needed to get into Mexico for whatever reason – they left their car at the border and walked over (as I have before) since their young children didn’t have passports with them. In 2010, this was still an effective method for entering and leaving Mexico w/o a valid passport.

Did the two adult McStays have their passports w/them? Were the passports missing from the family home? Were there any signs of disturbing mental illnesses in either of the adult McStays? IMPORTANT – if popcorn was found in the den near a television – what show was being watching prior to their abrupt departure from the family home?

The need to rush into Mexico (if that’s the case) could’ve been triggered by anything – a sudden phone call to one of the McStays; watching a certain show on television.. It almost appears to me, as if they intended to rush down to Mexico on a possibly Mercenary mission of some sort and impulsively stopped to purchase toys to take with them (there are several orphanages down in the border towns of Mexico). Learning that a car could not be driven into Mexico w/o passports for the US return; might’ve led to the McStay’s abandoning their vehicle. Was the family religious? Has anyone checked with the orphanages South of the border in TJ?

They’re not dead – they just disappeared; there’s a big difference. I think that only ONE of the McStay family members instigated this abrupt departure but I don’t know which one it was (it would have to be the one w/the stronger personality who may or may not have had a mental disorder or a bit of an impulsive streak). Disappearing from their home a few days prior to actually entering Mexico doesn’t make sense, however. How close to this bridge, which received a final cell phone ping; is the McStay home and/or the Mexican border? They could’ve been staying with whomever was trying to facilitate the connections between the McStays making it into Mexico.

What else did the McStay computer searches reveal in the days prior to their disappearance? Even if it was a casual search such as where to find a certain restaurant or what sales Target was having – all of this could help to weave a pattern of information, discovery and clues.

I just think that this story is so awkward. All the evidence left behind, it really sounds to me like this family left on there own free will. Like they wanted to get away. I watched the E investigates with Lisa Ling, and there was a guy in costa rica that she spoke with who said that the father and him were high school friends and just wanted to get away. I still think that even though he said that he has not heard from him, i think he might beig lieing. I think that it is so awful that the mother and father would leave there family like that and not tell them where they are and keep them worrying. Its so selfish, and i dont think they even realize what they are doing to their family. Now, some of the evidence said it looked like they left in a hurry, that could be true. This could have been something that they had talked about previous to there disappearance, took only what they felt they needed, and left. The people in the surveilance camera, at the mexico border, DOES look like the McStay family!…….Idk there is just something very awkward though, because the mother said that everybody in the family looked like the particular person in the surveilance camera except for the son. And i feel like when a mother knows, a mother knows. and what about the home im curious to know did it get forclosed on? is it completely empty? i know they left $100,000 in the bank, maybe that was for when they were going to come back? and the the father leaving his medications, i feel like he left them, because this trip was to help him with his anxiety….and he didnt want to take them anymore. see how many tings just dont add up, one minute you think the wife has something to do with it, but the next you think that this couple may have been under alot of stress and left on there own free will….. but why would they do that to there family?

  30. Melissa

I’ve written previously and no matter how much time goes by and no matter how many things I think about regarding their disappearance it always comes down to the same thing. Whether or not someone forced them to leave or whether they left on their own, THEY WERE involved in something. Something that they were over their heads in. It doesn’t matter what I come up with, there had to be either the husband and/or wife involved in something that no one in the rest of the family knew of.
If someone was behind their disappearance which seems unlikely considering the car, size and all of the contents, then someone wanted them gone. And that would mean? They were involved in something. If they left on their own, especially the way they did? They were involved in something.
And with the sightings, the purchases (of which they could have shipped under any name, to anywhere …most likely where they were heading or passing through) and then leaving their car at the border it seems there was either someone on the other side waiting for them to take them where they were going, or they had a car already waiting. Hell, they could be in Rosarito or even TJ for all we know, even Ensenada though I doubt that. I’m sure they’re somewhere where they could still surf.
People don’t just make people disappear. They kill them. They would have been found, deceased had someone come to their home. They left, they had plenty of time to arrange the things they needed to. They didn’t take the large amount of money, possibly to keep from being chased further if someone felt they had “their” money and they wanted it, or by taking it, it is such a large amount it would have set off some red flags at the bank not to mention carrying that kind of cash around. Obviously they have money with them but again, it could have been being sent to an accessible bank somewhere else. And the only reason for them not to make contact with anyone or tell them where they were going? was because it would put their families life in danger and they couldn’t afford to risk it…. Therefore? The only possible option, is that one way or the other, they were in over their head and had to run. I only hope the search dies down so they may find a way to contact them and let them know they are doing fine. I know in my heart they have to be alive, to have had something happen to them otherwise makes absolutely no sense, the person or persons would have FORCED them to withdrawl the 100K otherwise, what else would be the point of anything otherwise.
Sorry if my views upset others, but honestly I think it is good news and I think that knowing it allows the family to move on with pure faith that the McStays are alive and will make contact when and if it becomes safe. Have faith and try your best to move on as doing anything else only makes it that much more difficult on the family to try and make contact not to mention the danger it can put them in every time one of these stories airs.

  31. Sheri

I have a feeling they were into something dark and got in over their heads. Then he was taken abruptly and unfortunately murdered and she was taken over the border with the kids and an imposter husband and relocated. That is why the money was left behind, the house left in a hurry, the time lapse and the feeling that the man in the video was not Joe. Maybe she was not who she pretended to be. I haven’t really heard anything about text transcripts. I think the police would dig deeper if they really wanted to find this family. Sorry for the loss of your loved ones.

  32. Melissa W.

I just heard of this case. Did anyone ever consider the wife being the main suspect? She has had several different names and lied of her age. She was a stay at home mother, so who really knows what went on when her husband was at work. I watched The E! Investigates with Lisa Ling. The missing persons flyer said that the wife was Latino. How can a Latino is Southern California not know Spanish? All of a sudden the husband was sickly and know one knew why. Could she have been slowly poisoning him? She was extremely possessive. Do we know anything about her other aliases ? Her family? Her past??
The friend in Costa Rica is a bad liar. I wonder if he has something to do with it. Was he ever questioned besides Lisa Ling?
Why would a man leave his close knit family? There are too many holes in this story.
Has the mother and brother tried to speak with a medium to see if he is dead?

These are just all speculations. I watch way too much Criminal Minds!

I feel they left in a hurry for some reason.if.they bought girl toys maybe they.were.adoptting.a toddler girl from mexico.or.maybe they thought they were.and something went totally wrong.i have adthma and.pets.i would never leave without my meds.or abandon my.pets.i truely think something it wrong.

The post by Angie and also one from Melissa W. sound like the two most likely scenarios. Tho I pray Angie is right and have felt the exact thing myself, that they went into the WPP, however after reading Melissa W’s post I realize I hadn’t even considered that and its the only other thing that makes sense besides being placed in Witness Protection..I’m now thinking that is why Summer had the alias and wrong bday. ..but I pray that MW is wrong for obvious reasons. I will continue to believe they r alive, pray they r safe and that your family gets contact with them when they can. God bless you all, and keeping u in my prayers.

  35. TLS

In light of current events…FBI ‘taking over the case’, 48 Hours first being very interested then just dropping it…and considering that EVERY lead in 3+ years has been (or at least appeared to be) a dead end and the fact that this case has never had sufficient and/or efficient national/international media coverage…I have to say that in my opinion, the ONLY answer is WPP. As someone stated above, it could well be that LE has only been ‘appearing to investigate’ while effectively keeping the story out of the media spotlight since early on because they (LE) know the family is in danger if they are found. I can think of no other viable reason to withhold any information from family members, friends and/or the public. EVERYONE, including LE and the press/media has been far too quiet and this case has never received the national/international press one would expect for a missing family of 4 Americans presumed to have crossed the border into one of the most dangerous countries in the world and vanished! If for no other reason than this…that 4 AMERICAN CITIZENS including 2 small children are allegedly MISSING IN MEXICO, regardless of whether they went willingly of their own choosing or not…this case should have been, and should still be, A MAJOR NEWS STORY. It has never, and I repeat NEVER, had the publicity, attention and investigation one would expect. If it weren’t for concerned citizens posting here, on Facebook and a few crime blogs, there would be very little known about this family. I dare say that only a handful of people in the overall population of the world have ever heard of the missing McStay family. The few TV shows that have been done offer few clues and no real solid information, LE has never held a public press conference (even in the local area), no massive fund-raisers or searches have ever been organized…nothing one would generally expect for even one missing child/teen let alone a family of 4 with 2 small children. All one has to do is take a look at a few other cases of missing children/teens or young adults (Holly Bobo, Natalie Holloway, Kyron Herron, Mickey Schunik) to see the difference. WPP is the only answer that fits.
My heart goes out to the families of the missing McStays and their friends…You all remain in my thoughts and prayers, and always will. I cannot even begin to imagine the heartache of the mother’s, grandmother’s, father, grandfather, sister, brothers and others who love this family…I can only pray that God will somehow give you peace of mind and that you can somehow come to know and believe that your loved ones are safe and ‘happy’ somewhere under government/LE and God’s protective hand. I urge you all to claim this promise from God…

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
    Philippians 4: 6-7

    Blessings and peace…

Tanya. I think you hit the nail on the head. I’ve felt this from the beginning, and is the only thing that makes any sense to me. I’m sure that if it’s what I have to believe just because its the only plausible explanation, that he knew all about Summer and whatever her past.. im guessing something pretty major whether she Did something wrong, or was witness to something, or juts plain in danger… I believe they fled.
Thank you for your comment, and tremendous insight as I believe it to be true.

I pray for the McStay family often and like Tanya, and all who have posted, cannot even bare to think of what they are and have been going through.
All my prayers, peace and love and pray you will be with our family again… when its safe.
