Disappeared TV Show will Air our Case

The last open lead on our family’s story was closed last week. Detective Troy Dugal, San Diego Homicide Division, woke me up early Monday morning to ask me a few more questions, and inform me that the last open lead on our case was resolved. The case is not closed, but there were no open leads for him to follow up.

We were currently in negotiations with CBS, NBC and whoever else wanted to air our story, but the outcome was slow. All the while, most of the family and friends were just going through the motions. We’re all going through such tough times in this economy, and this situation is simply a constant reminder of how overwhelming life can be. Nobody, when they’re young and dreaming, ever puts this type of situation as even the slightest blip on the horizon. Now how do you deal with this, and everything else?

Thankfully, though there were talks of others companies to help us keep our story in the media, the TV show Disappeared sprung into action. They will arrive the week of September 13th to interview Det. Dugal and Lt. Brugos, the 14th for my mom and I, and the remainder of the week for the Aranda’s and various friends.

Detective Dugal, who has personally vested himself in our family’s case I feel, is chomping at the bit for more leads to follow up on and really wanting the media to stir up the waters. Chris at the FBI, Dugal, Martinez, and crew drastically want to solve this mystery. How does a family of FOUR just vanish? I guess we’re all in the same boat, trying to make heads or tails of it all.

The silver lining in it all being that Joey’s oldest son, about to turn 14 the first week of September, continues to maintain a 4.0, lead violin chair, plays piano, and his uncle is his biggest fan rivaled only by Grandma Suzie.

All in all, I really just wish that the phone would ring, I would hear my bro’s voice, and though I’d wanna ring his neck for all the stuff we’ve all been through, my biggest fears would just leave me. Life is moving forward, but many of us are simply stuck somewhere back in February, searching for answers, hoping for a miracle.

I’m a long way away over in New Jersey but I heard about your family’s situation back in February and have been following updates on the family website. This is like a TV show and I sure hope a happy ending is coming after this very short commercial break. God Bless everyone and I wish all can accept whatever the outcome may be or if there is no finality we have to accept that too!

I knew Joey back in the Dinky Band days and met you and your whole family (through STK) at the sandwich shop. I continue to pray for you, your family and if not for their safe return then for their well being.

Thanks again for the update. I am still praying and thinking of the whole family. It must be a very difficult road to travel, not knowing what happened to this family, and i can’t imagine all the ups and downs you have felt. I hope they keep this story and all the information in the media so it gets heard all over and over again until something turns up about this family of four. Patty in Orangevale, calif.

    Hi Mike,

Thank you for the update. I continue to pray for Joey and the family. I can’t even imagine how hard all of this is for you.

Please send Susan my best and, as always, I am ready to help if the need be.

You are always on my mind and in my prayers. I just keep in my mind how I would feel if my son and his family disappeared. I would imagine that the concept of time has no meaning, at least like it once did. February can seem so far, but just as if it were yesterday. I can only imagine the toll it has taken on everyone. I will never stop praying; for strength and hope for each and everyone of those close to you and the McStay Family.

    Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that my thoughts are with you in this unbelievably difficult situation. I have been following this case since pretty much the beginning, and I check your site often for updates.

As you said, it’s mind-boggling how four people could simply disappear from a major metropolitan area. I cannot even imagine what it must be like for you and your family. I hope with all my heart that there is a positive resolution soon.

Great idea, a TV Show will remind viewers to keep up on finding this family, someone may even crack and talk. Don’t let this story fade, keep in in the media. I prey for you all.
    Don’t give up, best wishes….

I AM NOT CONVINCED THESE CASES R RELATED, BUT WANTED TO REACH OUT AND LET U KNOW THAT I FEEL UR PAIN. SHERILYN AND I CONSIDERED EACH OTHER SISTERS. I PRAY THAT U FIND ANSWERS AND UR FAMILY SOON.

I’m very sorry that your family is going through this difficult time. It is very fustrating just not knowing what happened. Don’t ever give up take of your mother be strong for her. I saw the episode of your brothers dissaperances and I also don’t believe they would just pick up and leave especially after they bought a new home and they were remoliding like you all said. I live in southern texas and things are really bad and I don’t believe they would cross the border either and put their children in harm. Put their pictures on YouTube make a video send messages out ask to put their pictures on milk cartoons like they use to do in the old days. Walmart allows you to post missing pictures on their bulletin boards. In my heart I believe someone will come foward don’t give up be strong bless you and your family. If you like you have my e-mail address send me a missing flyer of your family and I can give it to my husbands brother-in-law who works in customes and he make copies and show the rest of the men who work with him and the boarded patrol agents. He works the bridge that allows the American citizens to enter Reynosa, Mexico so if you like so help that way I can help your family god bless you all.
