Lifetime Television – Vanished with Beth Holloway

Update: Watch the episode that aired here.

Monday May 9th Lifetime Television will feature my missing family’s story. I am hoping that this will bring some exposure to our case, but more importantly, someone will come forward with evidence or information to resolve our answers.

I wish there was more.

I want to thank Lifetime, the SD Sheriff Dept, Beth and crew for caring and continuing the on-going efforts to locate our loved ones.

At the end of the day, the only thing in life that matters is family and our relationships with one another. Relationships mold and make us who we are to become. Regardless of all outside influences and pressures, your friends and family are the roots that ground you. Joey was and will always be my big bro who I admired all my life. Until I am for certain for what is the fate of my family, we all must stick together with the common goal of resolving this case.

Thank You for all the love and encouragement… it has sustained my soul and given my the resolve to see this thing through, even when I felt like I had no more strength to continue.

I have been following this story since it first began and check regularly for updates. I’m very close with my family and I simply can’t imagine how I could pull my life together if any of them simply disappeared. The not knowing seems unbearable. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones. I hope that one day there will be answers.

    With best wishes,
    Christina

Hi Mike and family….Steve and family here in south New Jersey. Great that you will be getting national exposure on Vanished on the 9th. Hope some new information comes out about your brother and family and the right people watch it. Feel like we know you guys since been keeping up on your story since last February. At this point you need to find out what happened so you can get on with your lives and with the grace of God the rest of your lives can include Joey, Summer and the boys! God Bless!

I saw a commercial for the show. I saw Summer riding on a bike and pictures of the boys.It took my breathe away.
We will be watching. God Bless and I will be thinking of your momma this Mothers Day. Love Vianne

I find myself checking this website every few weeks after seeing the Disappeared episode. I watch a lot of Investigation Discovery programs but this is the one that has stayed with me the most. I hope you get some answers, and I truly hope your family is ok.

I would not rule out that one of the people posting here could be a missing family member under a different name — if there might be any legal or safety repercussions for contacting the family back home, the missing McStays might well be the ones posting with “theories” to give concerned relatives clues. For example, some posts theorize that they are in witness protection and that no government official or authority would ever admit this if it were the case — could this be the mother or father posting this? (Rest assured that I have absolutely no connection to this case, but might be worth re-reading previous posts with this idea in mind.) Keeping my fingers crossed that the McStays come home soon!

Every now and then the name Mcstay pops in my head and I immediately google this website to find out any new updates and news. Low and behold exactly when I did, I read about the Vanished episode airing TONIGHT. I switched to Lifetime and the show was on! 5 min into me watching, they said coming up was there story. It touched me as it has been every time I read and hear about it. My prayers and thoughts are with yall always…best wishes.

I’ve just watched the presentation on Vanished; I had already seen the Nancy Grace report some time ago.

This is a heartbreaking mystery for all concerned.

May I extend my prayers and very best wishes for some resolution to the mystery and an end to all your family’s suffering.

I will continue to watch here in the hope of good news.

Do you think that hiring a top international investigation firm, would work? If so, maybe some fundraising on this website would help. Even better, pitch the idea to a TV network or channel: they would hire investigators and document their progress on a series of programs.

My hear goes out to your family and I hold hope that they will return to you soon. I watched the show this morning and your family is beautiful, I hope you have peace soon.

I saw the show last night and I don’t understand something. The McStays home is in San Clemente. At the time of their disappearance, it was in the local papers. And I believe they even had a business in SC.

Yet, the show made no mention of San Clemente, only of Fallbrook.

Really I don’t get how a family of four just simply vanished no trace no word nothing. Is this government doing? Are they in protection someone needs to speak up this is not right! .and there has to be more to this story.I hope your family comes to some answers and end to this nightmare. Your brother sis n law and nephews are in my prayers.

I am sorry to hear about your family. I pray for you every night and hope that you will receive some kind of closure. Just remember that time heals all wounds, and they will find your family. One world. One family. One journey to find the people missing. I know it will happen one way or another. With all the sincerity in my heart, I wish you the best of luck. I will check here weekly or so to see how the journey is going, and I hope you are all doing okay. Stay strong and remember that they will be home soon I just know it (:

Unfortunately, this was the first time I had heard about this family, thanks to the new show “Vanished”. Ever since watching the show the other night, this story has really had me bothered. I, myself, have been trying to piece the puzzle together as well as everyone else. I PRAY and will continue to keep praying that this family is safe in the “witness pretection program” — as I believe that’s where they might be. Like other people were saying, I would put out searches to other places than Mexico….. the evidence seemed too suspicious.

I heard about this story just a few monnths ago and I watched Vanished last night. I am so sorry for what you and your family are having to go through. I can’t imagine the pain you feel and the not knowing has to be mind-numbing. My heart goes out to you and my thoughts and prayers are with you. So hope that you will receive good news soon and you will be reunited with Joey, Summer and your nephews.

I was just curious if the police have any idea if which one of if both of them where searching for passport req (for minors)? Have they ruled out the possibility that maybe the wife was a victim of domestic violence (with the glasses being left)? Maybe only the Joseph McStay took the kids and assumed a new identity?

  16. Ginny

The first I heard of this tragedy was on Vanished. My thoughts and prayers are with your family – I think about you often. Maybe others who had not heard of the case and have seen them will watch Vanished and provide you with new information..

I will continue to pray for you and your family

    God Bless.

Will your family’s story be aired on the new 48 hours missing persons show on A&E?

I just read the article in the May 30, 2011 edition of People magazine. I was not familiar with the case until I read the article and went online to read a little more. I cannot even imagine how it must feel to wonder each and every day if you will see the family again. It must be very agonizing to think of what could have possibly happened to them each and everyday. My prays are with you and I wish you the best outcome in this case. I hope that one day I will see a closure with a happy ending.

God bless you and your family.

Saw Peoples magaine today and was sooo sorry to read that the family dog bear had died.
We just HAVE to find this family!!!!!

  20. Barak

Helene, I cannot believe your insensitivity!
Where is your concern for the humans in this family?

  21. Maalaea

Like many of the other people who are posting on her, I have also just recently heard about this case from the People magazine. I’m at a loss for words and in a complete state of confusion and I can’t even imagine what your family is experiencing, but my hope is that wherever they may, they are safe.

I will keep you in my thoughts.

    Warm regards,
    Maalaea

I just read the article in People magazine and I believe that they were victims of kidnapping. It seems that they were brought into Mexico but what I don’t understand is that the family had 100k in their bank account. Surely they would use this money for the kidnappers to save their lives? It’s very confusing but I would hire an investigation firm as discussed in a previous post and start looking in Mexico. If you put out a reward for information in Mexico you will probably find some answers. As I think about the case, I have a suspicion it has something to do with drugs whether the Mcstays were involved or not remains uncertian. I hope the you find out what happened as this must be a terrible situation to go through.

  23. Lori

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for a positive outcome to this deeply unsettling and very disturbing mystery. I can’t even imagine what you must be going through. Try and stay positive, as hard as it is. I wish I knew a way to help.

    Best Wishes, Warm Regards,
    Lori

  24. Helene

Barak, you have NO idea what you are talking about. The mother of Joey here is one of my DEAREST friends!!! She was crushed to hear that Bear had passed away. HE TOO was a member of their family. I have been going thru this with her every step of the way and will be at her side until her family is found. Before you say something, know what you are talking about or don’t talk at all!!!!

  25. Cynthia

My heart aches for your family. Why don’t you make an appointment with Sylvia Brown or her son Christopher? She is a psychic that will be able to tell you what happened. You are all in my prayers.

I’ve just watched Beth Holloway’s program and the rerunning of the segment on the McStay Family disappearance. This is the second time hearing of this mystifying case, first hearing it on Nancy Grace a while back… Both times I felt a frightening and almost overwhelming sensation of dread and sadness as I listened to the story. Firstly, although, I do not find it unusual at all that they were looking into proper documentation to go back and forth across the border-folks in so. cal. do it all the time. Secondly, I believe their pets were left with food and water but that it was all gone by the time they were discovered at home alone. Lastly, is it not unusual for entreprenerial people like Mr. McStay to be savvy to the possibility for new business opportunities? Simply due to their proximity to one another, I would imagine Californians and Mexicans would be doing business together very often. This is what leads me to an unfortunate theory that surely has been looked into by authorities, but I think may be a start in the right direction: I think Mr. McStay was in the process of looking into a business oppurtunity that came to him. Even though he may have been hesitant, whoever was on the other end of this “deal” convinced the McStays to come on down for a few hours for, perhaps dinner and some business talk with Joe. I think at some point Joseph McStay realized a flim flam was in the works and tried to walk away from it but was prevented from doing so along with Summer and the boys. Whatever was in the works did not get far enough for any crooks to get a hold of any of The McStays assets/money. I do not believe this family got away alive and at this point I do not think their bodies will be found. This story has moved me- very sad…. I sure hope my theory is incorrect, but my senses tell me something along these lines has happened. To their family and friends I surely am sorry.

I read she is Columbian. Has anyone reported this case to Interpol?

I am sorry I did not mark the box for follow up on my prior comment .and I would like to say to the entire family that my hopes and prayers are with you throughout this ordeal.and putting all my energie into a good outcom and I did see a comment previously about sylvia brown .I realy do after all this time believe this would be a grt benefit too you and your family.also the idea of private investigaters that r out of the spotlight.and donations and rewards .mike said it himself mony motivates peopl to do things thy normally wouldn’t .n may not want to com forward with information for many reasons maybe feel family deserves to disappear n don’t wish to be controling over their choices or maybe in reguards to their own safety.just amazes me how many will com forward in the end but not willing to get involved until then as I’ve seen with other cases.but rewards will motivate thm and it sounds like joey had mony couldn’t u use that too find him.n the family.or is it tied up in something.and no access to it or anybody.I understand their is a lot we r not able to know about this case.so the authorities can’t let anyone know if they r on to them iin a sense or if thy are on the right track.but the length of time that has went by I think I would make use of every avenue I could on my own .with my own people on the side.don’t giv up.bring them home.

Please notify me of any new information or leads to assist you and your family of which you can release that won’t jeopordize their safety of course.any information will help me to gain more or wat I’m able with gifts that I have been given.the mor I know the more I receive that kinda verifies things n weeds out unnecessary things that aren’t any use to us.n thank you as this weighs on me.and want to help all I can.in jesus name bless this family and give them your strength courage and knowledge n please help them with this pain.keep them strong for the days to com.amen

I’m so sorry about your family. I will and have been praying since I saw the show. With God on your side your family will be found.

I know how frustrating this is for your family. I lost my sister in law, who left behind 3 little girls all under the age of 7, and we will never know what exactly happened. The speculation is horrific. I pray that your family gets the peace it needs…closure.

I am from New Zealand and heard about the McStays via the Laura Ling story via E! And also Disappeared on CI on Sky TV! I was blown away by the mysterious of their disappearance! I too am not sure they walked out of the house willingly because of all the ‘mess’ as such lying around the house! Could it be possible then, they needed to pop out of the house quickly for something & decided to take a family ride, but maybe they got car jacked and were told to drive to the border?? It’s probably far fetched and I guess we are all clutching at straws here because we just have no idea and no leads to follow!!

My heart goes out to the family left behind who are bravely trying to put their lives back together while always hoping, wondering, and praying the McStays will one day come back to you! I know you have been told this time, and time again – try to be positive, putting positive thoughts out there and praying that a lead / someone phones in that can give this a new direction!!

Love from my family in New Zealand to yours xox
