There have been No New Leads since last October or November to post to the McStay Family website. There haven’t been any confirmed sightings that law enforcement could rule one way or the other, adding to everyone’s frustration.
We have a had many good suggestions and a lot of great input come in through the comment boards and a lot of encouragement. The outpouring of compassion is something that gives me strength for sure.
My biggest question is that in a world of internet, facebook, gmail, twitter, and every other social connectivity forum, how is that four people just vanish? No phone calls, no confirmed sightings, nothing for over a year. No money, an empty house, abandoned dogs and all their stuff, but more importantly, a family that would do ANYTHING at the drop of a hat to help. Simply mind-boggling.
On a positive note, it’s been really neat to hear from people from all walks of life taking time out of their schedule to drop a line and encourage our family to keep going. I would like to personally Thank You for all the love and support.
I wish there was some good news, or a warm trail to write about. I wish I had something to throw out there to encourage everyone, but there have been No New Leads.
Oh my God, I am sure each person who visits this site has your family in their hearts and on their minds daily…..I know I haven’t forgotten, I have watched the new shows many times…..I try to put the puzzle together in my head, such as them being lured over there somehow…..toys, maybe, I don’t know…..but I believe in my heart that Joe and Summer would never have disappeared on purpose, from everything I have read about them since their disappearance and the start of this saga…..The kind of people they are, animal lovers, both….loving parents and siblings to boot, …..no, it just couldn’t be possible…… Please know that people have not forgotten and are keeping you all in our thoughts as the days go on with the hope that there will soon be a positive resolution to this whole awful circumstance. I saw the nancy grace show with your missing brothers family.I will always continue to pray for their safe return !! this case sure is a baffling one!!I even thought that maybe a spaceship landed and took them off this earth-I know that is extremely far fetched but what possible scenario could there be?Hang in there McStay family!! This family and you all too have left a huge impression on my heart. My prayers to you all and the detectives and all that search and hunt for this family. We have a prayer board at our church and this family is on it. I have posted their pictures as my profile picture on FB…sent to many friends in other countries . Focus on God. He is there always.

Dear families of the McStays and Arandas…
I have followed this disappearence since the first news story about them broke here on the East coast and have read all the articles written and watched all the shows. I know that much of what was said early on has changed over the course of 14 months…including statements attributed to LE. In my opinion the best and easiest way to clear up any and all ‘mis-understandings’ would be for LE to hold a press conference and give a full accounting of what they have done to find this missing family and what evidence they have obtained that leads them to the conclusion that they are ‘voluntaily’ missing and not the victims of a crime.
There have been many twists and turns in this case, statements have changed (including those by LE) since the early days and a lot of info has become to light which some have found to be strange, however, for me, the strangest thing of all is that there has not been even one press conference called by LE in this case!!!
If this were my family I would be presuring LE to hold a press conference and clear the air once and for all! This is what I would urge all of you to do as soon as possible…in fact I believe it is imperative!!!
There are many people out here who are ready and willing to lend a hand in helping to find your missing loved ones…unless LE has positive, unrefutable proof that they are voluntairly missing and do not want to be found. I personally do not believe this to be true. I would also suggest that you contact some of the organizations who work with the families of the missing and enlist their help…there are some who will even sponsor the hiring of a PI and placement of billboards nation wide.
I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as I have since the first days of this case becoming public…and continue to pray for Joey, Summer, Gianni and Chubba to be returned safely.

I just watched the disappeared tv show , and i wanted you and your family to know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hey just wanted to let you know I just watched a show about their disappearance. It is a show called Disappeared that comes on the ID channel. I live in Texas, so I am hoping for you that many others will see it. Hoping it increases the chance that something is found out.
I just saw the Disappeared TV show and looked for your website. I was wondering if the painter that was mentioned (and any other handymen and contractors helping to fix up the home) were investigated/located/cleared? I tend to believe the Grandma when she says that it is not her son crossing into Mexico.
It seems to me that given all of the facts and circumstances here, I’m reminded of cases where an out of options parent will kill his family and then commit suicide. Had the wife had an affair? I recall on the YouTube video where they were driving in their new neighborhood, the wife said, “I can’t do this” in response to the husband proclaiming how beautiful the area was. Very odd exchange. Sounded to me like she wasn’t on board with the move but he was pushing things.

Hi again, I want to thank you for giving us all an update. My heart really goes out to you. In all sincerity, I don’t know how I would handle a situation such as yours. It is mind boggling… totally! This has been haunting me ever since it happened, it’s just something I can’t forget. Everytime they come to mind, I pray for them. I know it’s easier said than done, and quite honestly, if I was in your shoes, I would be feeling discouraged and overwhelmed too. But we have to keep praying, believing and hoping… we can’t stop. Yesterday in the ladies bible study that I attend, the topic we studied was on intercessory prayer. I thought of you and your family immediately. The Lord certainly confirms things through His Word, He definitely confirmed to continuing pressing in and praying. I would encourage you, as difficult and heartwrenching as it is, to dig deep into the Word and continue to be steadfast in your prayers. God works in mysterious ways and He may give you revelation or something… so let’s to believe and pray in unity for God to move in power. God bless you!
Have you thought about opening a wider search in the US ?? If I am being honest, I believe they pointed you in the direction of Mexico in hopes of throwing you off. I have been following this story since day 1 and what troubles me is that on your brother’s computer was information about crossing the boys over to mexico and passport requirements, etc. Perhaps this and the placement of the car was all done to purposely throw you to a cold trail. It is very easy to assume a new identity in the US. As parents with young children, things like medicine, schooling, etc are needed by those boys. I still scratch my head at all this ..
Of all the investigative shows I have ever watched on TV, the Disappeared episode featuring the McStay family has been the most haunting of them all. I thank you for keeping us updated.
I have been praying for the safe return of the McStay Family every night since I heard the news of their disappearance. I know that wherever they are, God is watching over them. I hope that somebody is taking care of their pets during this time. Does anybody know anything about this? The McStays have been missing for a long time now, and while I pray for their safe return, I also pray that their pets are being cared for and comforted along with their other loved ones.
I had a few other questions after watching the Missing show.
1-They said that the FBI says that the McStay family is not in the witness protection program …. my question is, does the FBI ever admit or confirm when someone is in witness protection?
2-They said that the fingerprints on the map does not match the McStays, but piggy-backing on the prior question, if the McStays are in witness protection, would they admit it if the fingerprints on the map actually matched those of the McStays?
3-Is there any advantage to entering Mexico on foot rather than in a car, such as not checking passports or other reasons? No cameras, or no record keeping for walkers? Are there fees?
I feel 95% sure I spotted the mom and one of the sons last week. I took quite a few pictures on my phone and would be happy to email them to you, Michael so you can review them. I will also be sending them to the Sherriffs dept. so you can contact them also to see them. It is Monday 3/28/11. P.S. I have had these pics for a week and had a really hard time not knowing what to do with them. I only knew to call the Nancy Grace show which has a busy signal constantly. This case has just boggled my mind since I heard of it. Nothing seems to make any sense. There has got to be more information than we are hearing. Surely, if the mcstay’s did leave on their own, they would know their computer records would be checked. I do not believe it was joseph who made the search about children and passports. Unless of

I have kept up with The McStays Family story from the start and am dumbfounded that the LE has not made some sort of offical statement or press conference. People in the US disapear everyday-bad things do happen to good people and some are never resolved. Have you thought of using going to someone reputable person who works with LE and has psysic abilities? What about that guy on TV? Maybe they could shed some light on this ? Someone out there knows something and I pray for their return.

Is there any activity with the business partner? Are the police still checking him out? Maybe you can not say. But are others still going into Mexico with flyers etc? I keep praying. Even if there is bad news….at least it would give some closure. But I hope so much that it is good news when it comes.

After 33 years in law enforcement, I find this WAY beyond puzzling. I have to travel to Rosarito far more often than I care to. and if they entered Mexico @ San Ysidro,…voluntarily, D1 is the only real road south from the border. I’ll print some flyers and re-paper Rosarito Beach on my next trip.

I don’t know if this is of any help, but I have crossed the San Ysidro border around 8 pm several times without having any authority asking me for any paper or even looking at me. They do check on those who enter with big bags or suitcases, but the traffic is heavy and very agile at that time and people just get in Mexico easily.
I can only imagine the stress you are all enduring. I hope that answers come to light soon, and that your loved ones are found alive and well.
Just veiwed the ID, Disappeared program about the missing McStays again. The waiter in Baja, seemed to think the children were the McStays, due to the birth mark, but map tested didn’t have parents prints. Just wondering if it’s been considered that it may have been the McStays children but with other adults? In other words, could the children have been kidnapped and taken into Mexico? Unfortunately, there would have been foul play for the McStays adults. Which could explain why none of their money has been accessed. Could some of the worker in the home done the computer search about the need for passports, and then planned the kidnapping of the children and disposal of the parents?
Very heartbreaking thoughts and I don’t say these things lightly…I, too, have followed this case since I first saw it on ID a year or so ago. My heart goes out to all their loving, caring, family members and friends.

Jeanne, I don’t think the children with other people… first off, if they were abducted, they would not be in clear view like that… plus the children would have appeared agitated or distressed… so I honestly don’t think that is the case. We just have to continue to pray that this precious family is found.

did the cops check to see what other prints were found on the map and try and match to data base.
they also need to look deeper into the husbands background.
open all the boxes in their house and see how things were packed when shifting house.
talk to people from around their previous apartment and see if you can dig deeper into their ways of life, what they dreamed about, were they tired of saving to survive an average life.the clue is always just before our eyes.

i have just watched the ID Disappeared programme (on NZ tv so it is nearly a year old) and it really touched me. I came online to check if they had been found and my heart broke for you and your family to find out they were still missing.
I cant ever fathom what you must be going through and from what i can gather from the programme is your brother and your wife would never do this to their family – both their children and the family they left behind.

ive just heard of this story after e broadcasted about it… i must say ive read dozens of articles since hearing about it and am still completely baffled. i hope that they are safe, but could summer have been cheating? i mean she seems rather flaky with her different names and lying about her age. i find it odd, but maybe she took the children and took off… i pray they are safe.
It seems obvious that someone (two people) other than the parents, conned the kids to come along in the car by buying them lots of toys, then dumping the toys and taking the kids across the border. It seems that the key is the remodel workmen that were present on the day the computer search for passports was done. Maybe the painter that never came back? Are these people traceable from Cragslist ad at the time, possibly? Those kids MUST be alive somewhere in Mexico.
I just want to tell you that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Out of all the disappeared shows that I have ever watched your family has stayed in my mind long later the program ended. I pray for your family and there safe return, or at least for some closure for you and your mother if a safe return isn’t possible.

It might have been mistaken identity with the children. K Jeanne raises a good point. It is certainly plausible that the children could have been trafficked into Mexico without the adults. This would explain why there has been no activity on their accounts and why the car was so close to the border. The border might be the key in this mystery. I don’t know if there has been any press coverage in Mexico but it might be a good idea to get some out there with a reward. You never know if someone in Mexico might have seen something. Also I don’t feel btw, that video showing the family was them. There would be no reason for them to go into Mexico at night and Summer had stated about not wanting to go there. As for the computer search about passports, it could have
been the person responsible for their disappearance. Though if they were trafficked you would think the person responsible would know if a passport was needed or not. Hope some clues will be found soon. They looked like a happy family. Many prayers for them.
I don’t want to give false hope, but I did know a family in my hometown who vanished for a number of years without a trace. They left a grandmother, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins without a word. After 4 or 5 years the husband called his mother and told her that they were all safe, but had to leave for reasons he refused to say. 2 or 3 years later they came home. It had to do with their safety and they never did give details. I pray that your loved ones are safe and will return to you one day, or at least let you know that they are alright.
I think there was some shady business going on with that wife….changing her name how many times? That’s not eccentric…she is running from something and I bet he ran with her. They disappeared on purpose. Nobody changes their name that many times for fun….seriously. wake up….they ran for the border and disappeared to protect her and their family for something. Their family may know them pretty well….but they don’t know her secrets but I’m sure her husband found out(if he wasn’t involved himself after awhile) the way she talked to his mother( your not apart of the four) their family….like there was something only her and her husband knew and those children were included in….because nobody talks like that when they get along with their inlaws. There’s something going on between them two that nobody else knows about and that why there own families weren’t apart of the four. Their in some trouble with some people and they are protecting their family is what’s going on….they aren’t going into the wpp because it must be illegal and something they’d get into trouble for….nobody changes their name for fun that many times….she’s a con. I sense lies and secrets! But unless your apart of the 4…then its not your business now is it. And if they are shady enough to be involved in that kind of business…they are shady enough to disappear without telling their family where they went. I’m tellin ya….that woman is trouble. The only one that really knows her is her husband….and I doubt he “really” knows her but he’s inlove with her and protecting his family. Mark my words.
Let’s not forget too…how his personality changed while with her….could it be he knew some secrets….cause I’m not buying the whole control jealousy thing.
Has anyone checked with Joseph’s physician? Is it possible he was diagnosed with a brain tumor…given his headaches…that was untreatable…and he chose to leave rather than put his family through the heart wrenching task of watching him die? It doesn’t make it right…but would be his choice. Just a thought. Hope he realizes before its to late the suffering it is causing his family not knowing what happened. If this is the situation…from what I watched about the wife…she may have felt that once he passed, his family would try to take the kids.
Why did they move to Fallbrook, they could have bought a foreclosure anywhere , that neighborhood is islolated off the 15… ????
