I have been praying and praying that this family is ok. I live in Orangevale, Calif. which is by sacramento and have been following this story and wish i could do more to help, but i will be praying at Easter service at church for these sightings to be the family everyone has been looking for.

This case really baffle’s me. The authorities think it was the family walking into mexico on that tape, but it is too dark to tell. I am sure his brother and her sister and mother looked at that tape millions of times and can tell if its them. To disappear without a trace is one thing, but a whole family is another. I have watched the video clips and I am convinced there is foul play. If it was them walking into mexico, one thing, they do not look to be under any stress. So theres no force, 2) the car was parked blocks away, how about they were beating any kind of traffic when they got back. 3) eggs left of counter could have been easily forgotten. I have done that myself. 4) the dogs werent taken care of, well, if they were planning some small outting for a diner or anything that could be going on in that area that night, then there would be no need for anyone to care for the dogs. My conclusion, they went to mexico for a small outting, not a vacation or to run away from something, i feel as though they went on some small outting and met with foul play once they got there. Maybe i just watched too much police tv detective shows, but that is just my opinion.
I live 1 hour below the border in a american area, maybe if we had some flyers we could help get the info out, are they deeper down? Is the question? They are still so heavy on my heart and mind. Where are they how are they. God please help us find this family.
Michael, we are Fallbrook people and will be spending a month in Mexico, south of Puerto Vallarta. Is this near the area where there have been reported sightings? How about some flyers so that we can distribute them down in that area while we are there.

I hope you find your family real soon, I have prayed for them and am like everyone baffled. I did view the video of the family several times and it looks like your family to me, especially your sister-in-law and the boys. I don’t see them just up and leaving their dogs so it just doesn’t add up. Hopefully the answer will come soon. Maybe they intended to contact someone to take care of the dogs and for some reason were unable to do that
I would first like to say how heartbroken I am for your family as well as for Summers family. Please know that you are all in many, especially the boys. My stomach aches with the thought of any ill will toward them. I’ve read so many assumptions and Im amazed. For a family with no real financial issues, no criminal issues , etc to get up and walk away for even a short period of time is strange in itself. As a wife, mother, & friend, typically someone in your life even knows when your family is going out to dinner, someone usually knows your schedule. (mother, sister, girlfriend, coworker) Even if thats not the case, a close knit family doesnt disappear into thin air. We normal (so to speak) people don’t leave fridges full of food and our animals to starve. I truly believe there was someone in the home with your family or threating them to leave, reasons unknown obviously. They left their vehicle with no passport home for thier son. Who does that? What does “seem to be under no stress mean” as they head toward the border? If there was someone watching them, near them, or threating them from a distance, how would we know? I’m completely sure the first thing from the invasive person would be to say “Act normal”, right? I have 4 daughters and if they were threatened in anyway I would do what I was told with no looking back. I’m sure the FBI is very aware of the crazy things that the people in this world do and will continue to search adamantly for them. I will continue to lift them in prayer. I am so sorry that your family must deal with such an awful situation.
I have been watching this topic since day one and it saddens me. Being a Wife and Mother of two little girl’s it really hits home. I pray that they are all OK..maybe they did plan a trip and something went wrong..or perhaps they wanted to get lost for while. Anything BUT them coming to a tramatic end

So sorry, Mike, for the suffering your family is going through right now. I have been following this case since the beginning and am concerned that there haven’t been updates posted since April 1. This is the primary website people are coming to looking for information. Is there anything new to report? Even if there’s no news, perhaps just a short note from you–just so people know this is still an active missing persons case. I’m certainly hoping for the best and keeping your family in my thoughts.

it is the time of desperation for many.
A private detective can pick up clues that the locals and FBI might be missing, he devotes all his time to your case, yes they may be expensive but use the donations to find your family…..

Just letting you know that as far as a SW Florida Wallmart, Joey and his family are featured on the the Missing Children’s display in the center of the board and enlarged. They are surrounded by hundreds of smaller pictures of other missing children. So at least that is positive. Our prayers are with you from the other side of the continent.

Im scared to imagine what couldve happened to them! especially since human trafficing seems popular these days. This whole ordeal sends chills down my spine. Whats even more frightening is the very same thing could happen to my family. This case reminds me of the o’hair case, and their house was left in the same creepy “frozen in time way”. I dont think they would be in that heavy traffic and attempt to cross the border just for dinner. My heart goes out to that family. I hope for the best, but this dont look good at all.

I just watched this family’s story on Investigation Discovery and now I know what they look like and will keep an eye out for them where I live, although I do not know if they will be in Illinois. I seen this a few nights ago on ID. They said that the taped footage is of them walking across the boarder, but i don’t understand how or why there is no cameras on the other side to view the faces of people coming into Mexico. Also, it stated that the toys that were bought were pretty pricey items. considering it doesn’t show on a bank statement where these were purchased and there wasn’t a receipt, my guess it she did buy them off craigslist. (where she looked up toys). I also don’t understand why the toys were covered with a blanket or whatever it was in the back. If it was to surprise the kids with then they would have been left with a family member while they picked them up. I’m convinced it has to do with the person who sold them the toys off Craigslist. Also the pictures shown on ID were of the toys still in wrapping (or at least it looked that way). have they checked finger prints on those items?
I know that there are incredibly intelligent and trained individuals working on this case. And I am sure these avenues have been explored , but just for the sake of saying it-have the computers been traced back to see specifically what searches were done on crags list, and the sellers of the items contacted to determine if or when items were last purchased. Including the language educational software. I am confident with many hours of phone calls any contacts made through craigslist could be found. Does the site have records of the people who have listed items in the past? I agree with comments on the first page. As a mom I believe the toys were covered because they were a birthday present, one or both Joey and summer did not want the boys to see. I would finger print the toys to see if you can determine who bought them – whose prints are found more on the toys who lifted them into the car- this person was likely not aware they were going on a trip. Can it be determined who was cooking the eggs. Are both prints present on the pan that was being cooked- not sure if prints wash off in dishwasher.
Furthermore – it is my opinion that the family would not cross into Mexico for a short trip or just to check something out after being out of contact with the universe for four days. If Summer was as hesitant about a trip to Mexico as it is portrayed in the disappeared show they would have contacted someone and told them their plans in case something went wrong.
I have never been so haunted and saddened by a tv show. I check this site regularly for new entries. I pray for a lead that will break this case wide open.

I was watching the video of the family on their house hunting trip and if you listen carefully to what Summer is saying, she is very negative about the area, she makes it very clear she does not want to live there. She say’s that Joseph is bringing them in a different way to the house so that they don’t go through shack town. She is very sarcastic in the video and at one point Joseph says ,Shut up! He tries to be positive and say that they are not far from Oceanside beach, but she just keeps it up with the nasty remarks. This women could have been so unhappy that she killed her husband then fled to Mexico with the kids, after she got rid of his body. Only a theory….

I just read the people magazine story in the 5/30/11 issue. I believe i heard about the McStays before. My heart breaks for your family. I hope you find them. My advice is to leave no stone unturned. Even if it sounds nothing like your family( involvement with drugs, bad business deal,etc.). Sometimes there are things people are involved in that even their closest friends and family members have no clue about. Follow every lead, idea,etc no matter how crazy. I wish you and your family the best.
I heard about this story today. It saddens me and my prayers are with the family.
I pray that they all come home safe and sound. And this is for the detectives, all house employees that where workin on the home were they investigated in everyway and form. The children are very good lookin kids what if someone was in the truck with them at the time they left the home no one can actually see who drove. When the vehicle was abandoned it is a possibility they wered usurped by someone else, make believe it was them. I believe the waiter lied he probably did see the children but the adults were not them. Has a psychic medium intervened? I absolutely feel that would help wonders. But I’m praying and they will come home soon?
What would it take to get the FBI involved if they haven’t already? It’s been almost two years, and due to the nature of the care for there two boys there is no way they would of took them in to Mexico that late at night. No possible way, something or someone forced them, and they need to be found.

After watching the E! special yesterday I cannot stop thinking about your family. Of all the odd things in this case, I found Joey’s friend that was interviewed on the special to be the most peculiar. Seemed like he did know more than he said. I’m obviously nobody meaningful to the situation but my gut says they’re all alive and that they did meet up with the friend early on. It’s all just so strange. BUT if someone wanted to “fall off the face of the Earth” going into Mexico seems like a good start. The woman on the special that said she had seen the family a Wal Mart was SO sure it was them, and she had multiple chances to get a pretty good visual. I think it’s totally believeable that they just wanted to vanish…or that they are in fact in witness protection. Otherwise, it was foul play on the wife’s part…something was rather fishy about her internet searches prior to February 4th. Whatever it is, Mike, I hope you and all other family members get to see the four of them again someday. I will continue thinking about you and your family every single day and hoping for an ending, a happy one, to this story.

Whole families don’t just get up and leave. Did authorities ever find out who was at the door late one evening when Summer was on the phone to her friend? That could be really important and the key to the whole thing.
What would make them all leave at a drop of a hat? It would have to be something like being told a loved one had been in an accident etc… Kids that age would normally be in bed at that time of night unless of a special occasion or an emergency?
I hope they are alive and well, but for a normal close family to just up and leave on their own accord, sorry, it doesn’t ring true. I think they are victims of foul play, the parents at least. The kids could be anywhere. The birthmark on the younger child could also be gone now. If it is a strawberry mark, these disappear on their own after a few years.

I just saw few days ago the Disapared progran in TV. I’m leaving in TJ, but my parents leave in San Quintin, Baja California. Mex. (3hrs to the south) I have been traveling over there too many times to visit them and I have never seen a flayer with the Mcstay family information, there are some check point in the way and I think they most have the information. There are a lot of restaurants a long of the way and eather have any flayer.
I offer my help to distribute the flayers (I’m not asking for money), my relatives leave there and we can do.
