Jamal Al-Sarraf from SC Times has asked to ride-a-long with me to see what it’s like walking a day in my shoes.
Jamal has been kind enough to follow our story on a weekly basis, and has personally donated funds, and calls a few times each week to follow up with me.
It’s a joy being a local San Clemente-ian… and having a local reporter who has a heart. Jamal has taken a personal interest in finding out family.

I think it would be helpful if you guys created a page on this website called “The Facts”, and just list all the facts of the case. Maybe the public can help solve the mystery. Many minds is better than a few. I wish you guys the best of luck.
I’ve been following this strange case and I just read the news that the family’s computer shows that they MAY have planned their own “disappearance”. It’s very strange and it’s very sad that they have not contacted their relatives and friends (or law enforcement) to let them know they’re okay. But I’d like to share something:
In 1989 I left my abusive husband. I did not want to stay with my parents since he would know where to find me. So I went to live in a womens’ shelter for abused women that he was not familiar with. I felt instintively that I needed to “go underground” for a while for my own safety and for the safety of my family (parents, etc.) I did not contact my parents for months, but did contact my grandmother after about a month.
Joe and Summer MAY be thinking along these lines. They may have had a good reason to “disappear” and go underground. They may resurface at some later point when they feel it’s safe.
So I can relate to some aspects of this “mystery” and wanted to share my story.
I sure hope they are safe!
God Bless.
