A few weeks ago, my blackberry alerts me that I have a new email from our website. Someone was kind enough to send us a tip that they thought that the McStay’s were in a hotel in Ensenada, Mexico. I immediately forwarded the email to Detective Dugal, who sent it to Kris from the FBI. In less than an hour and a half Dugal calls me back to tell me the news.
For those wondering how involved and interested law enforcement is in these kinds of cases, they really want to put a conclusion to our family’s disappearance.
Though the information from the tip was very accurate, it wasn’t my brother, sister, and nephews. The Ensenada Detectives approached the family, checked their passports, asked some questions, but they were a family from Canada.
I have trained myself not to get excited when these leads come in so that it minimizes the let down emotionally.
Detective Dugal was in touch with a TV Show that was interested in our family’s story so they contacted me during that same week. It turns out that the woman I was speaking with also worked at America’s Most Wanted. It was a good conversation and she let me know that the higher-ups would contact me at a later date.
On Friday I spoke with Maureen (the Producer) for over an hour and a half. Great conversation. If the staff is anything like Maureen, they have a wonderful team.
So we all just keep faith and hope alive and keep pressing forward. I know everyone involved really wants to get some answers and bring closure to this ordeal.
Hi Mike & Susan etal. I hope they do this program, and that the airing brings in more tips. I think about your guys often and am praying for Joey, Summer and the boys return.

I’ve been following this story since they disappeared, it has touched my heart. I cannot even imagine what this is like for your family and friends. Just know that there are many of us out here in cyberspace that are concerned and wish for only the best and timely end to what can only torture to you and yours. I hold my friends and family a little tighter and hope someday you will be able to do the same.

I saw the Disappeared program and your family’s story really haunts me. You and your family are in my thoughts and I am praying that someone will come forward with information soon and that you will have peace in your hearts and minds.
I am very sorry to hear that your brother,wife and children are missing. I dont know much about the facts of this case but, reading responses on the website i have a few questions…
Everyone keeps saying that the home computer was used to look information on passports for the children and i believe they also said MEXICO, did anyone ever stop and think that Summer could be the one on the home computer doing research since she is the one that stayed all day with plenty of time in her hands to come up with a plan.
I think they should look at the husbands computer at work to see if he was also looking for similar things.
I think summer had a plan to leave that day alredy in place, probably her husband never even made it home that day it could easily have been a lover posing as her her husband while she left the house with the children and her husband might have been harmed alredy when she left.
The car and all the toys they found i think that was all part of the plan to throw the police of for a while and give her and her lover ample time to cross the border into Mexico with the children and disapear.
The guy in the video looks nothing like her husband but i really think that was her and the children crossing the border with her man.
The house i aslo think was left in the order it was to throw people off because she knew that people werent going to think of her as a suspect because she would never leave that way or leave her dogs. SHE WAS UNHAPPY FOR SURE BUT, WITH A PLAN THAT FOOLED EVERYONE IN THIS INVESTIGATION. SHE WAS VERY SMART BECAUSE SHE GOT AWAY WITH THE PERFECT CRIME.
